TV Ghost – Mass Dream

TV Ghost is following up their 2009 release, Cold Fish, with their newest offering on In the Red called Mass Dream. While the album contains more of their characteristic scuzzed-out art-punk, producer Greg Ashley gave the band’s sound a bit of a spit shine to help separate the instruments and bring singer Tim Gick’s vocals one step forward in the mix. I hear a lot of Dischord-era post-punk, no wave, and early Cramps influence in these guys. Mass Dream comes out April 12, 2011.

Have a listen to some sound samples from the album here.

If that seems like too much work, you can also check out the full track “Winding Stair” below:

The best way to introduce yourself to TV Ghost (if you haven’t already) is to see them live. Frontman Tim Gick has a really dramatic style of playing and several of the songs leave him rolling around on the floor of the stage in spasms. These tortured folks make tortured music… and so naturally, it’s a lot of fun to watch.

They’ll be touring with the Spits to promote the record. Here are the dates:

May 22 – Magic Stick – Detroit, Michigan

May 26 – Cactus Club – Milwaukee, WI

May 27 – Empty BottleĀ  – Chicago, IL
