Woods – Sun and Shade

Indie folk band Woods have a new album by the name of Sun and Shade coming out on Woodsist (of course) this summer. The release date for this one will be June 11, 2011. They just recently put out “Pushing Onlys” to promote the album, which you can hear below. This track sounds like Woods has been hanging out a lot with (or at least listening to the music of) label-mate Matthew Mondanile of Ducktails and Real Estate. Yet, even though his guitar tones and style of playing are all over this track, this still sounds like Woods. Sun and Shade was produced by Glenn Donaldson, who has mentioned that this album will see Woods incorporating some more psychedelic sounds into their music as well as some experimentation in krautrock. We’ll have to see how the rest of the album sounds in June, but for now, have a listen to “Pushing Onlys” here:
