David Bazan – Strange Negotiations

I’ve been a fan of Dave Bazan’s music from Pedro the Lion’s first Whole EP all the way up to his most recent solo album Curse Your Branches. His music has always been honest, full of questions, and equipped with excellent storytelling. While it’s evolved over time, the quality of his songwriting has remained as consistent as his wardrobe. Well, Bazan’s following up his much-acclaimed Curse Your Branches with a new one by the title of Strange Negotiations. His albums almost always have some underlying theme that he deals with lyrically, and this one is no different. According to Barsuk, Strange Negotiations will center “on his disappointment in the current state of accelerating American and global social fragmentation.” Also, while Bazan has typically recorded all of the parts to his music by himself, apparently this one’s been recorded with his current touring band. I wish I had some music off of this thing to share with you, but I don’t. Nevertheless, look out for Strange Negotiations May 24, 2011.
