Chicago indie rock staples The Sea and Cake have a new one coming out on Thrill Jockey May 10th, 2011 named The Moonlight Butterfly. This one is being pitched as a mini album, falling somewhere between the length of an EP and an actual album with 33 minutes of tunes spread over 6 songs. The Sea and Cake are pretty locked into their sound at this point, with this being their 9th(ish) long-player. So, if you’re familiar with the band, you can anticipate more of their jazzy indie rock with electro flourishes, but if you’re not, this should be as good of a place to start as any of their other albums. Have a listen to “Up on the North Shore” from the upcoming album below.
