Psychedelic Horseshit – Laced

Then it’s not just a clever name. The shitgaze flag-bearers known as Psychedelic Horseshit have a brand new record of more lo-fi noise pop tracks ready to be released May 10, 2011 on FatCat Records. The album is titled Laced and it manages to deconstruct their previous sound while incorporating some electronic elements. The production on this one is a lot cleaner than previous outings, but they’ve maintained some of their blown-the-fuck-out noisiness in the form of textured samples within their songs. Laced is definitely some sort of progression for the band, but their music’s just as trashy, if not trashier, than before. “French Countryside” sounds like it could have been made in a drunken collaboration between Noah Lennox (Panda Bear, Animal Collective) and Nicholas Thorburn (Islands, Unicorns) if they enlisted a classroom of kindergarteners as their backing band. I’m not sure if the boys in Pyschedelic Horseshit would take that as a compliment or not… nor do I really know if I mean it as one. Love it or hate it, Psychedelic Horseshit will probably receive some more attention with this release as they continue to press the boundaries of what’s remotely listenable in new and interesting ways. Here’s “French Countryside”, which will be on the new album and serves as a fine example of their trash-pop.

    Great Track!
I’ve always been somewhat of a supporter of these guys but i think this album may be a perfect balance of Psychedelic and Horseshit!!!!
